Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized treatment oriented family based care for children who may otherwise be placed in more structured programs
  • Follow all legislative and agency mandated policies and procedures involved in the care of foster children
  • Complete a comprehensive screening/selection process which includes criminal record checks, child welfare intervention checks and a home study with your family
  • Participate fully in the process of family reunification, if appropriate

Qualifications:

  • A clean Criminal Record Check, a clean Child Welfare Intervention Check

Program: Community Teaching Homes – Calgary and Airdrie
Job Title: Alternate Teaching Parent
Commitment: Full Time

Responsibilities:

  • The Alternate Teaching Parent is responsible for assisting and supporting the clients in our Community Teaching Homes through providing relief, assisting with treatment planning implementation, assisting with crisis, and assisting with job and school difficulties
  • The Alternate Teaching Parent may work in a specific program or across programs such as group homes, support youth in the semi-independent living program, and provide relief to any foster homes when need
  • This position reports directly to the Teaching Parent Supervisor in each Teaching Home

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in a related field
  • Related experience with youths or families implementing structured plans, setting clear and attainable goals and working closely with a team of professionals in order to facilitate success for the clients
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability and willingness to develop cooperative working relationships with youths, families, and other team members
  • Willingness to work a flexible 40 hour work week including some evenings and weekends

Program: Community Teaching Homes
Job Title: Teaching Parents
Commitment: Full Time, live-in

Responsibilities:

  • A live-in salaried position for a couple to provide intensive treatment services for 3-6 young adults

Job Title: Awake Overnight Staff
Commitment: Full Time

About the Position:   These permanent full-time positions, based in Airdrie, work closely with a team of professionals to support our Community Teaching Homes and Specialized Community Support programs. The Awake Overnight Staff’s primary responsibility is to provide awake overnight supervision in our programs for clientele ranging in age from 6 years to adulthood and to ensure the safety and security of all clients. You must also complete administrative tasks and household tasks (such as cleaning and food prep) as required.

About You:  You possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages. You work well independently and understand the responsibilities that come with working with minimal supervision. You are a compassionate individual with a positive and empathetic approach. In addition, you are eager to learn and carry out the principles and philosophy of Closer to Home and the Teaching-Family Model.

Job Title: Intensive Live-In Family Support
Commitment: Live-in, full time

  • A live-in salaried position providing intensive treatment for an adult and child in a family-style therapeutic home
  • The support worker would provide support to the adult and child by assisting them with skills such as problem solving, positive parenting, budgeting, advocacy, understanding and facilitating child development, and other skills which will increase the family’s ability to set attainable goals and experience success
  • This position reports directly to the  Program  Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in a related field, or experience working with at risk adults and children; related experience is an asset

Job Title: Awake Overnight Staff

Program: SCIP
Job Title: Camp Leader
Commitment: Full time
Duration: 10 weeks

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Coordinator in planning and implementing the activities of the program

Program: IT/Quality Assurance
Job Title: IT/Data Management Support

About the Position:   This permanent part-time (0.5 FTE) position works as part of the IT team, to support employees with their technology needs.  In this role, you would review and respond to support requests, set up new computer systems and laptops, set up email and server accounts, document passwords and other relevant information and coordinate with external support technicians when needed. You would also work closely with the manager to identify emerging computer trends and needs.

About You:  You possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively collaborate with other professionals. You are extremely detail oriented and organized and can manage multiple projects at one time. You are self-motivated, have the ability to work independently and can determine appropriate priorities. You like to take ownership of a problem and see it through to resolution. You take pride in your ability to learn quickly and are excited about learning new concepts and applying them in the workplace.

A minimum of one year of work experience is required, however, a minimum of two to three years of experience working in an office environment is preferred. Experience working within the non-profit sector is an asset. You must be able to carry computer equipment and work in tight spaces (i.e. under a desk). In addition, a Criminal Record Check and a Child Welfare Intervention Check must be completed upon hire.
