Program: Semi Independent Living
Job Title: SIL Counselor
Commitment: Full Time

Responsibilities: Closer to Home Community Services is looking for an individual(s) who can provide a supervised living situation within their own home for a young person requiring supports to become independent in the community of Airdrie. Ideally, a shared accommodation arrangement with a bedroom/suite and the ability to provide supervision related to youth needs would be required. The qualified candidate will be provided with trained program staff to support the living arrangement. The successful candidate will be compensated with a per diem and rent. Must be willing to participate in a 40 hour pre-service training workshop and have a current First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications:

~ Ability to engage young adults prosocially and take responsibility for their safety and security. Relevant experience working with youth and young adults with developmental disabilities would be an asset.
~ Desire to make a difference in a young person’s life.
~ Have no history of abusing children and no criminal record.
~ Must be willing to participate in regularly scheduled, in-depth evaluations to assess the effects of treatment on the clients and to assess skill implementation
