Closer To Home Programs and Services Overview

To reach their full potential, children and families require a healthy, safe, secure and nurturing environment. Closer to Home Community Services programs incorporate treatment strategies that respect and affirm culture, traditions, and beliefs. We encourage individual independence and self-determination. Closer to Home Community Services works in collaboration with other resource providers to support children and families within their own communities.

Following are the Core Values by which Closer to Home operates:

  • Accountability – be fiscally responsible and accountable to each other, the community and stakeholders.
  • Children and Family Advocacy – defend the rights and dignity of children and families.
  • Collaboration –develop partnerships and relationships guided by mutual trust, respect, and professional protocols.
  • Dignity – provide compassionate, considerate, respectful, positive, and unconditional support.
  • Diversity – respect cultural, age, gender, ethnic, and other types of diversity.
  • Integrity – maintain the highest level of confidentiality by ensuring honest and open communication between all stakeholders.
  • Respect - act in the least restrictive and intrusive manner possible.

Closer To Home Programs and Services

Families and children access services at both ends of the continuum. Families can visit the West Central Resource Centre or receive services through Calgary Regional Authority. Children are able to seamlessly move between services in the community, out-of-home placements and back to their family as quickly and early as possible.
