Family programs
Mother Goose – a program for parents and caregivers, and young children aged birth to three years. The program uses the power of songs, rhyme and stories to create fun, positive interaction between parents and their children, and equips parents with new skills for home activities.
Aboriginal Craft – Come learn a new craft or bring a project you are already working on and share some time with others interested in Aboriginal crafts, beading and culture. Everyone is welcome.
Parenting/Family Support – Family Support Workers are available to spend one-on-one time with families to address and resolve issues that compromise family well-being including parenting challenges, financial strain and child behavioural issues.
Sheriff King Domestic Violence Outreach Worker – An outreach worker is available through West Central Resource Centre for women who have or are experiencing domestic violence in their lives. Please call West Central Community Resource Centre @ 403-543-0555 to set up an appointment.
Youth Programs
Homework Clubs - Students in grades one through six can access homework help, participate in recreational activities and get to know other children in their neighbourhoods. Staff have grade-appropriate educational activities for students who do not bring their homework. Homework Clubs run in the following locations:
• Bethany Chapel – Tuesday 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
• Strathcona – Tuesday 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
• Glenbrook – Wednesday 3:30 – 5:00p.m.
• Shaganappi Library – Wednesday 3:30 – 5:00p.m.

Girl Talk – Girls aged 12 to 15 spend time exploring issues of interest including; self-perception, peer pressure, self-esteem and effective decision-making. Girl Talk runs in the Shaganappi Library every Monday from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Call the Community Resource Centre to register.
Cooking with Kids – Youth aged 12 to 16 learn how to cook a variety of simple recipes and have fun doing it! This group meets every Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00 in the Rosscarrock Calgary Housing Complex. Call the Community Resource Centre to register.
Babysitting Safety Course – Come and learn how to be a certified babysitter for your family and the community. Youth 12 to 16 years old can contact West Central Resource Centre at 403-543-0555 to register for this program.
Resources Available
Staff are knowledgeable about a variety of supports and resources available to help families address their concerns. Experts can help families identify appropriate resources and make referrals.
Computers – We have computers with internet access that you can use to write resumes, find employment or look for housing. Call 403-543-0555 for more information.
