1. How do I become a volunteer with Closer to Home?

All those interested in volunteering with Closer to Home would first contact the Volunteer Coordinator, identify potential interest in positions available, set up a time to review the position with the Coordinator and fill out an application form. You’ll be screened based on your skill development, interest and availability. A program will be identified based on all three criteria to become a volunteer. At Closer to Home Community Services we want to ensure the best match possible between volunteers, our children, youth and families and our staff.
If accepted, you will be invited to the program or to meet the child, youth or family and given an orientation by the program staff. All volunteers must also review, accept and follow Closer to Home Volunteer policies and procedures. This information is provided to you and reviewed prior to site orientation.
We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities and commitment levels to accommodate your availability, from special events (Kids’ Christmas Party), seasonal (Summer Camps), and regularly scheduled opportunities (weekly, monthly). We value your time and commitment at every level!
